Hey Everyone!!!
The 2009 season is over, and I have to say; “Boy am I pleased.” I'm already planning for next year, and I'm excited. I was planning on talking about the new season, but instead I thought I would give you my top 5 moments in chronological from this season!
1. Starting the season in Hawaii, and staying with my aunt and uncle Jim and Roberta was great. They are the best; I love Hawaii, I love the sunsets, and it really gets my year going (it'll be sorely missed in 2010!)
2. Contending for the first major of the year at “Nabisco”. It was just a great week of golf. I had the best of the conditions, and enjoyed experiencing the moment with the fans, and my close friends who followed me. Thanks Jamie, Mark, Irene, Terry, Marcelo and Emily!
3. Finishing 2nd at the second major of the season; the McDonalds at Bulle Rock. The week was bittersweet. For the first time in my career I felt like I could win. I gave it my all, and loved the challenge. I didn't win, but I did have the best result of my career.
4. Playing the US Open, and having my parents come and experience the week. It’s such a wonderful event from the fans, to the tournament hospitality, and finally the competition. There is so much energy and excitement; it really was a rocking week.
5. My 11 on the 13th hole (a par-3) in Mexico!! I had played great all week, and then I hit a 9-iron in the water on one of the shortest holes of the year. After moving closer to the green for a drop what followed was 4 horrendous pitch shots all in the water. My emotions went from bloody annoyed on the tee for poor mental visualization, to "bugger" after the second chip in the water, to “oh crap” on the third shot in the water, to lots of swearing under my breath on the fourth chip in the water, then on the last shot I was thinking …. "Do I have any more golf balls in the bag, and what’s the crowd thinking?” It was horrendous; I literally just spent $20,000 on 4 shots. When I finally hit the green the crowd clapped out of desperation and pity; so all I could think was to I raise my hands and get them roaring (they responded perfectly). I completely lost the plot, and I had two options; too cry, or to laugh. After all the emotions I just started laughing, and thought how lucky am I to have this opportunity.
Thanks to everyone for another great year of support and encouragement. I couldn't have played week in, and week out without the kind words, emails, and texts.
Cheers, Linds
